How can you help with your kids writing skills?

“Writing well is a skill, much like other skills, in which preparation cannot be overlooked or faked.” .

Many writing assignments require research. Think about what you need to do for a particular assignment and organize your workload accordingly. Now that you understand the assignment and have done research, you can brainstorm for ideas about what you are going to write.

When you have brainstormed for ideas look over your notes and organize your thoughts. A beginning writer must understand grammar and basic techniques of writing. .

To make your writing strong and polished, start with the basics: the sentence and the paragraph. At the same time a sentence can contain more than one thought. Start a new paragraph with a new idea. If the action switches you should starta new paragraph. On the whole building paragraphs takes careful work. The middle of the paragraph gives you reasons to support the writer’s claim. The final sentence concludes the ideas mentioned in the essay.
